Candace Blanks, 43, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, and in exchange, two felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident were dropped, greenwichtime.com reported. She will serve six months in jail as part of the agreement, the report said.
Blanks struck and killed Lucas Silva, 22, of Stamford and Felipe Chagas, 19, of Bethel while they attempted to change a tire on the side of the road near Exit 11 on I-95.
Her car dragged Silva about 170 feet down the highway and Chagas was thrown under the car he was working on, greenwichtime.com said.
Blanks was charged with two counts of evading responsibility and vehicular manslaughter and a single count of drunk driving. But the state never filed the vehicular manslaughter charges, greenwichtime.com said.
