The Center has adopted “Campus Sexual Violence Prevention” as its theme for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The Center serves Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport, Weston and Wilton, providing free confidential help to men, women and children who have experienced sexual assault.

There has been a rise in the number of reported sexual assaults on college campuses, throughout the country and in Connecticut.

“The Center is fortunate to partner with key colleges in Lower Fairfield County and we are thrilled to have these strong relationships,” Zucco said.

The Center works closely with University of Connecticut in Stamford and Norwalk Community College on initiatives to keep these campuses safe and to provide crisis counseling and advocacy services to victims. Both colleges have signed Memorandums of Understanding detailing how they will work with The Center to provide trauma-informed services to student and employee victims of sexual violence, as well as sexual violence prevention education to their student bodies.

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, The Center will be hosting events throughout the month of April to raise awareness at area high schools as well as at UConn/Stamford and Norwalk Community College.
