WESTPORT, Conn. Between the openings of Shake Shack and celebrity chef Mario Batali's Tarry Lodge Enoteca Pizzeria, there's a lot of restaurant news to chew over in Westport this week. But there's more: Kevin McHugh and his partners at the Gray Goose Café in Southport are bringing a restaurant to town.
David Waldman, founder of the commercial real estate firm David Adam Realty , confirmed Wednesday night that McHugh and his partners signed the lease for the Sherwood House on Church Lane.
A Federal-style home built in 1802, the Sherwood House is currently being renovated. Work on the home began earlier this year. In a previous interview , Waldman said the house was being renovated to look as it did when it was built.
The Gray Goose offers lunch and dinner daily. The menu consists of small plates, also known as appetizers, grilled flatbread salads, sandwiches, burgers and main plates, such as grilled salmon, steak frites or marinated half chicken. The restaurant also boasts an extensive list of red and white wines.
McHugh and partners Tommy Febbraio and Pete Mennona could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
