Westport resident Thomas Maloney of 4 Norwood Lane learned the meaning of the phrase, "If you snooze, you lose," early Friday.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Friday, a patrolling officer reportedly saw Maloney, 48, sleeping in his car with the engine idling in the parking lot at the Saugatuck train station. In checking on Maloney, the officer smelled alcohol on his breath. Maloney, who refused breath tests, failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence. He appeared in court Monday and was scheduled to appear again Dec.17.
Also from the police blotter:
Bridgeport resident Samuel Gonzales turned himself in to Westport police Thursday afternoon knowing the department held a warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from a June motor vehicle arrest in which Gonzales, 20, was charged with numerous misdemeanors, for which he failed to appear. He is due in court Dec. 13.
