WESTON, Conn. What would you like to see done with the Lachat property in Weston? That is the question the Board of Selectmen are asking the community as it seeks ideas for the Godfrey Road land.
I think this is an important conversation to have, and its important to involve the residents in this process, said First Selectman Gayle Weinstein.
Many ideas have been floating around about what should be done with the property, which was signed over to the town and the Nature Conservancy in 1997 by Leon Lachat. Some of those ideas include turning the farmhouse into a cultural arts center , making it a place for conservation research or using the surrounding land for community farming.
The purpose is to figure out what the community would have an interest in," Weinstein said. "The property is meant to be used by the community, and we really mean community, so we want to hear ideas from as many people as possible."
Ideas can be submitted at the First Selectmans Office at 56 Norfield Road, or via email to Judy DeVito at JDevito@westonct.gov . For more information, call 203-222-2656.
