Anthropologie Clothing at 1365 Post Road E. in Westport was a popular target for shoplifting last week. Just two days after a Boston woman was arrested on shoplifting charges, Priscilla McAughan of Rowayton was arrested Sept. 24 after triggering the store's security alarm.
According to police, McAughan, 41, set off the store's alarm on her way out. When asked to stop, she reportedly told store security she would be right back. Upon re-entering the store, McAughan was carrying a pair of earrings that she said she did not pay for. Initially, McAughan admitted to taking only the earrings. During further police questioning, she admitted to taking a number of items, which she allegedly hid in her purse. The other stolen items were found in her car, police said. She was charged with possession of a shoplifting device and fifth-degree larceny. She is due in court Oct.4
