Scoops Benefit Firefighters

Scoops of ice cream are 31 cents at Baskin-Robbins until 10 p.m. tonight, April 28. The 31-Cent Scoop Night promotion is part of a national fundraising endeavor to help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. This is the fourth year Baskin-Robbins has held the 31-Cent Scoop Night to help firefighters nationally.

Outside the store, the Westport Volunteer Fire Department parked their 1953 fire engine and took donations for  the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, Inc. The Westport Fire Department has a long-standing relationship with the charity and this is the third year they have helped raise funds for the Burns Foundation. “It is great visibility, so it is great for us and it is a great opportunity to help out a really good charity,” said Volunteer Fire Chief Ken Gilbertie.

The Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, based in Milford, operates the Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp in Union, Conn. The outdoor camp is for kids 8 to 18 years of age with burn injuries. The foundation also helps support the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit.
