Outside the store, the Westport Volunteer Fire Department parked their 1953 fire engine and took donations for the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, Inc. The Westport Fire Department has a long-standing relationship with the charity and this is the third year they have helped raise funds for the Burns Foundation. It is great visibility, so it is great for us and it is a great opportunity to help out a really good charity, said Volunteer Fire Chief Ken Gilbertie.
The Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, based in Milford, operates the Arthur C. Luf Childrens Burn Camp in Union, Conn. The outdoor camp is for kids 8 to 18 years of age with burn injuries. The foundation also helps support the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit.
