WESTPORT, Conn. Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was the clear favorite among Westport Republicans who turned out to vote in Tuesdays primary.
The former Massachusetts governor soared past his opponents with 640 votes, according to official results from the town clerks office. Ron Paul got 58 votes, and Newt Gingrich, 56.
Rick Santorum, who ended his run for the White House on April 10, landed 11 votes. He appeared on the ballot because he bowed out of the race after the deadline. Fourteen votes went to uncommitted.
About 16 percent of the more than 4,800 registered Republicans turned out for the primary, the town clerks office reported.
