WESTPORT, Conn. Roadwork on Westport's Imperial Avenue between Gault Avenue and Bridge Street is set to begin Wednesday, director of public works Stephen Edwards announced Monday.
The roadway reconstruction and paving, part of the town's annual pavement management program, will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. The work is expected to last about one week, weather permitting, Edwards said.
"The roadway will be reduced to gravel for the first few days during reconstruction and grading operations," he said in a statement. "It will be paved with a new travel surface at the conclusion of the work."
During work hours, alternating one-way traffic will be in effect, so drivers should expect delays. Regular two-way traffic will resume after hours. Drivers should also expect raised structures, which will be marked by cones, barrels, paint or drums, and are warned to proceed with caution.
Anyone with questions about the paving project and schedule should contact the Public Works Department at 203-341-1120.
