Breaking News: Flu Kills Seven More In Connecticut; Officials Say Worst Is Over

Residents Home During Overnight Westport Burglary

WESTPORT, Conn. – A briefcase containing three computers, cash and paperwork were stolen from a home on Westport’s Brightfield Lane early Saturday while the homeowners slept, police said.

The burglary occurred between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m. The residents reported finding their French door slightly ajar, with the screen door fully open, Capt. Sam Arciola said. The door was unlocked.

Officers found an abandoned Dodge pickup truck stuck in a gully near the home. Police believe the truck, reported stolen out of Fairfield, was used in the burglary, Arciola said.

This is the second overnight burglary to occur in the Green Farms area of town in a month. On the morning of Feb. 2, a resident on Clapboard Hill reported that a video camera, cash and a wallet were stolen from her home while she and her children slept.

Police said in that case, the suspect entered the home through an unlocked kitchen door.
