WESTPORT, Conn. — Due to the weather, the Bridge Street bridge will not be closed for repairs Thursday and Friday as planned, First Selectman Gordon Joseloff announced Wednesday morning.
The bridge closure will be rescheduled for next week.
The swing bridge over the Saugatuck River on Bridge Street will be closed part of Thursday and Friday for repair work, Westport police announced.
The bridge will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. This means Bridge Street will be impassible from Riverside to Imperial avenues, police said. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes during these times.
Formally known as the William F. Cribari Bridge, the bridge was damaged during Hurricane Sandy , First Selectman Gordon Joseloff announced early this month.
Cianbro Construction Co. has been contracted by the state Department of Transportation to make repairs to both the mechanical and electrical components of the bridge.
Repairs are expected to be completed by early April.
