REDDING, Conn. – Redding’s State Representatives will hold a collection for residents to properly dispose of American flags, the delegates announced Tuesday.
The U.S. Flag Code specifies that old American flags no longer in service must be properly disposed of. State Reps. Dan Carter and John Shaban are working with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 935 and the Joseph W. Tarrent, Jr. Memorial American Legion Post 100 to properly take in old flags free of charge to residents. The group will accept flags in any condition.
The collection will run from May 20 to June 10. Residents can take flags to either Redding Town Hall, 100 Hill Road or the Mark Twain Library, 439 Redding Road. For more information contact the House Republicans at 800-842-1423..
