Redding Neighbors Club Plans Clambake

REDDING, Conn. – Fans of New England clambakes can join the Redding Neighbors and Newcomers Club on Saturday, July 14, for a delicious meal and live music from a local band.

The clambake will take place at 7 p.m. at the home of Leon and Karen Weaver, 118 Mountain Road, Redding. Club members pay $60, non-members $75.

You can choose between lobster, chicken and a vegetarian meal with mussels, corn on the cob and potato pie. Beer and wine and a special summer cocktail will be served.

Music will be provided by Yippee Coyote, a Redding band that plays rock and roots.

The Redding Neighbors and Newcomers Club numbers 90 families as members and welcomes both new and current residents.

“It’s a wonderful way to meet people and learn about all the area has to offer,” said Katherine Fenimore, the club’s co-president. “Lifelong friendships have been made and many feel their involvement has been life-changing.”

The club was founded in 1974 and offers a number of activities held by member groups, including book and cooking clubs and a critics club for movies. There are also children’s activities, including art events and guided trail walks.

Membership is $45 a year.
