WESTPORT, Conn. A Bridgeport woman is facing forgery and other charges after police say she tried cashing a fraudulent check for almost $2,000 in Westport.
Police were called to the Chase Bank at 188 Post Road E. on Friday morning where Belynda Constant allegedly attempted to cash a check for $1,760. Constant, 26, told officers she received the check from an unknown friend who told her she would get a portion of the money if she cashed it, according to the police report.
Constant was charged with fourth-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, criminal impersonation and sixth-degree larceny. Unable to post a $2,000 bond, she was held in until Monday morning when she was arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court.
