Stamford resident and former Westport nanny Stephanie Balanta is accused of stealing a gift card from her employeers. As the nanny, part of Balanta's responsibilities included getting and sorting the mail. Balanta, 26, allegedly stole the gift card, which came through the mail, and used it for herself. She was arrested Friday night and charged with sixth-degree larceny. She is due in court on Oct. 18.

? Macej Raszczyk-Lawski , a Fairfield resident, was arrested Friday morning on a warrant stemming from an August complaint made by Crossroads Hardware. According to reports, Raszczyk-Lawski, 29, wrote two checks to Crossroads Hardware in May totaling $517.29. The checks were allegedly returned by the bank for insufficient funds. He was charged with issuing bad checks and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14.
? A Massachusetts man was stopped by police on Weston Road after Connecticut State Police Troop G called them about a possibly intoxicated driver who had exited the Merritt Parkway at Weston Road. When the car was located and stopped, police noticed the driver, David Kimball, seemed disoriented. Though police could not smell alcohol on Kimball's breath, they did see several bottles of prescription medication on the car seat. Kimball, 32, who did submit to a urine test, failed field sobriety tests. He was charged with operating under the influence and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 19.
