WESTPORT, Conn. When Goodwill, a Westport staple for 50 years, officially opens its new store and donation center this Friday, it will offer more than just good deals on clothes and housewares.
It will include a Career Center, says Dorothy Viets, director of community relations for Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut.
The newly constructed 10,000-square-foot store and donation center will feature a covered drive-up donation center, bigger retail floor and more parking to better serve donors and customers, Viets said. The in-store Career Center will offer free services including use of computers, a fax machine and career counseling to anyone looking for a job, she said.
Located at 1700 Post Road E., the site of the old Peppermill Restaurant, the new store is just up the street from its previous location at 1572 Post Road E. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the plans for the new store in 2010, despite opposition from a nearby store owner .
A grand opening celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Morning show celebrities Chaz and AJ will be on site hosting a radio broadcast for 95.9 Fox from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The store and donation center will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Career Center hours of operation will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
