Mystery Writers Kill Time in Easton

Two days of whodunits and locked room mysteries await Easton residents during the Murder 203 festival coming to the library on April 9.

More than 20 authors will attend, including Carolyn Hart, the guest of honor. Hart has published more than 40 novels, including the acclaimed "Death On Demand" series featuring mystery book store owner Annie Laurance Darling. "The mystery states clearly and absolutely that evil exists, but the efforts of the detective offer a testament that the human spirit seeks goodness and decency and justice," Hart writes on her website.

Hart has won numerous awards, and her books have appeared in several national bestseller lists, including those of The New York Times and Publishers' Weekly. "I can't imagine life without writing, though I occasionally think it might be cheerful to play more," Hart said in an interview with the University of Oklahoma's Professional Writing Student Association.

Hart is also a past president and member of Sisters in Crime, an organization that promotes "the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry," states the group's website.

The weekend event costs $75 and discounted rooms are available at the Trumbull Marriot until March 11. Murder 203 includes two full days of author panels and talks, book signings, giveaways and free raffles, silent and live auctions (including an opportunity to “buy your way” into someone's next mystery), two breakfasts, a Saturday lunch and the Cocktails & Crime reception on Saturday evening.
