A Stafford Springs man was hospitalized after losing control of his motorcycle in Westport on Saturday afternoon. Shortly after 2:30 p.m., Westport police and firefighters responded to a call of a motorcycle accident in front of 128 Beachside Ave.
The operator was with a group of motorcyclists when he lost control, hit a mailbox and was thrown to the ground, Assistant Chief Robert Kepchar said in a statement.
Police were first on the scene and found the driver lying on the side of the road. Once they arrived, firefighters checked the driver for injuries and prepared him for transportation to Norwalk Hospital. Westport EMS further evaluated the driver and with first responders, loaded the driver in the ambulance.
The motorcycle was towed, and the last fire unit left the scene at 3:08 p.m.
