WESTPORT, Conn. At one point after Tropical Storm Irene hit on Sunday, about 77 percent to 78 percent of the town was without power. As of 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Connecticut Light & Power reported 4,368 outages, or 35 percent of the town.
Less than four hours before at 9:45 p.m., CL&P reported 6,663 outages, which was about 53 percent of town. During a meeting with First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and other members of Westport's emergency management team Monday, CL&P representative Chris Swan said crews had been working all day to replace downed utility poles on Saugatuck Avenue. He said the company was aiming to replace most of those downed poles by 6 p.m. Monday.
Swan also said CL&P had focused on restoring power to the section of Post Road East between Roseville Road and the Compo Shopping Center. He said crews hoped to restore power to that area by nightfall.
In the Saugatuck Shores section of town, Swan said "with a little luck," power would be restored by the end of Tuesday.
Do you have power? If so, how long were you in the dark before it was restored? Please leave a comment below.
