WESTPORT, Conn. -- Seven Norway maples that line the driveway at Longshore Club Park will be cut down to prepare the road for milling and repaving in the early spring, according to the Westport News.

The Parks and Recreation Department requested that the trees be cut down to improve the entrance roadway that is exhibiting failure along the gutter lines. The trees that will be cut down are the seven worst trees growing tightly along the roadway, department officials told the Westport News.

Two years ago, there was an outcry by some residents over the removal of 15 100-year-old trees, but following a review of the tree's condition, they came down. This time, there has not been any concerned voiced by residents, added the Westport News.
