MONROE, Conn. -- A petition has been started on in an attempt to get Officer Andrew Wall reinstated as a member of the Monroe Police Department.

Wall served as an officer with the Monroe Police Department for more than 20 years, and in September of 2015 he was diagnosed with terminal stage four Glioblastoma brain cancer. Despite being told there was no hope, he decided to fight for the sake of his wife Lori and their 12-year-old son AJ.

"It is through sheer determination to live, bravery, the fantastic clinical trial department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the grace of God that Andrew is doing remarkably well. He is ready and very able to return to a job that he loves," the petition says.

Wall has received medical clearances from several doctors, including the head of Oncology at Danbury Hospital and the clinical director at the Center for Neuro-Oncology at Dana-Farber Boston. Wall has said that he is ready to return to duty, and believes that he can perform his job at full capacity.

"Andrew would like to start back to work as soon as possible, tomorrow even. For the well-being of himself and his family will you please go to bat for this remarkable cancer survivor."

So far the petition has received more than 6,100 signatures. The organizers plan on delivering it to several town officials, including the first selectman and Town Council, as well as state legislators, Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen and Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
