WESTPORT, Conn. A Norwalk man who was pulled over in Westport for not displaying a front license plate was charged with having a butterfly knife with a 4-inch blade in his car, police said.
When Wayne Smith was stopped Tuesday morning, he was searched and found in possession of marijuana, pipes and a prescription pill bottle filled with various pills, the police report states. During a consented search of the car, the officer found the knife inside the center console, police said.
Smith was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle and given an infraction for the marijuana. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on May 18.

Dispute: Two residents of Burnham Hill in Westport were charged with disorderly conduct Tuesday after police said they got into a neighbor dispute over construction work being done near their common driveway. One neighbor said the other deliberately stepped on her foot, while the other neighbor told police the other kicked him in the shin. Both were given summons to appear in court May 18.
