WESTPORT, Conn. A Norwalk resident was charged with drinking while driving in Westport after he was stopped for a license plate violation, police said.
Michael Walker, 40, was stopped Monday evening on Saugatuck Avenue for not having a front license plate. The officer smelled alcohol on Walker's breath and saw an open bottle of beer on the floor of the car. The bottle was about a third empty, the police report states.
Police also discovered Walker was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear and that the rear license plate did not belong on the car he was driving.
In addition to driving while operating a motor vehicle and failure to appear, Walker was charged with several motor vehicle violations. He was released after posting $3,500 bond and is due in court April 29.
