The party came to a screeching halt for Galen Blumenthal, 20, of 57 Wright St. According to Westport police they went to Blumenthals house to investigate a noise complaint. While there is nothing wrong with a summer extravaganza per se, the police did have an issue with the 10 underage drinkers they say were rounded up. Police also found a keg and several other alcoholic beverages. Blumenthal was charged with the sale of liquor to a minor, intoxicated person or drunkard. He was released on a promise to appear and is expected in court on Aug. 4.

Officer's thought they smelled booze on the breath of Randall Russell, 20, of 27 Brichwood Circle, Fairfield, during a traffic stop. While he was able to pass the field sobriety test, Russell wasn't able to quickly locate all of his necessary driving paperwork, according to police. An officer searched the car for the missing papers and instead found a pipe and some baggies of marijuana. Russell is charged with possession of less than four oz. of marijuana, a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Aug. 4.
According to breath tests conducted by the Westport police, officer's noses were a bit more spot on when they thought William Nachman, 20, of 1 Tuck Lane, carried the odor of alcohol. They said he failed a field sobriety test and breathalyzer results came back .268 and .252. Nachman was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to obey a control signal. Bond was set at $500 and he will appear in court on Aug. 4.
