WESTPORT, Conn. Bridgeport resident Lamar Robinson was arrested in Westport on Tuesday evening after a shotgun was found in his car, police said.
Robinson, 28, was stopped on Post Road East for driving an unregistered vehicle, police said. He was also found to have no insurance.
In speaking with Robinson, the officer saw empty pill and alcohol bottles in the vehicle, and a small glassine bag containing marijuana on the floor in the rear, police said.
Officers saw what appeared to be a rifle when they lifted a box of stereo equipment in the trunk, police said. Robinson told the officers it was a shotgun that belonged to his father, which he forgot was in the vehicle.
Robinson was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without insurance. He was also issued an infraction for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is due in court Jan. 20.
