Patrons of the Weston Library will soon be able to reserve a book and create a wish list of wanted volumes from the comfort of their homes.
The library will be closed Memorial Day Weekend while a new online catalog system from Bibliomation is installed. The new system will let users place books on hold from any computer. Patrons can also sign up for emails alerting them when a book is due, renew that item and be notified when an item is available.
Bibliomation's one source system, BibliOak, will allow users to fill virtual Bookbags with a wish list of items from the library. All library catalogs in the BibliOak systemincluding more than 40 in Connecticutwill be available for browsing.
Karen Tatarka, Weston Public Library's director, said the program "looks easy to use."
To log in to your account on Tuesday, May 31, go to Weston Public Library's online catalog at http://acorn.biblio.org/Weston. Click on "My Account" and enter your library card number. Your password will be the last four digits of your phone number, which you will be prompted to change the first time you log in.
BibliOak is replacing Horizon, which is no longer being supported by the vendor. One Source allows for more flexibility with customization, said Tatarka.
