Westport Police Officers Howard Simpson and Ned Batlin along with Detective Serenity Dobson were honored on June 10 for their efforts to reduce drunken driving. The awards came from Connecticut Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers at the 24th Annual Appreciation Awards Ceremony held at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.
Simpson was given an award for his enforcement efforts. For the last two years, Simpson has made more the 50 percent of all arrests in the Westport Police Department for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Dobson and OBatlin were honored for providing educating young people through the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program, and various school programs throughout the year.
