Looking To Beat The Heat? Redding Opens Cooling Centers

REDDING, Conn. -- With the temperature soaring into the 90s all week and the heat index hitting as high as 100, Redding residents have a number of cooling center options in town.

The Redding Community Center at 37 Lonetown Road is open as a cooling center until 9 p.m.

Local health officials urge residents to stay in air-conditioned environments whenever possible. Here are the Redding cooling center locations and their hours of operation:

  • Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road: 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
  • Redding Town Hall, 100 Hill Road: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
  • Mark Twain Library 439 Redding Road: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to Saturday.
