WESTPORT, Conn. Liliane Bonora, owner of Lili's Fine Food and Catering at the Saugatuck train station, died Oct. 20. She was 72.
Born in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Bonora moved to the United States in the early 1970s. She became a citizen in time to vote for President Bill Clinton in the 1990s.
Bonora had a passion for the arts. She was a cloisonné artist and designer, a concert pianist and also played violin, flute and guitar. She discovered her flair for cooking after going to work at Soups On in 1979. With the help of the late Dr. Alan Lieberson, she started Lili's Fine Food and Catering, a fixture at the train station for the past 28 years.
Bonora is survived by a brother in Italy, a sister in Monaco and her dog, Gaston. A Mass will be celebrated at Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road N., on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Connecticut Food Bank or to Westport's Homes With Hope.
