Mimi Greenlee spent the early evening Monday, July 19, wiping down signs and dumping out bins full of rain water. Inside the massive tents, the Westport Library Summer Book Sale volunteers were no more spared this mornings torrential downpour than anywhere else in the region.
While some books were damaged, there is some good news. According to plenty of books remain for the morning opening of the sales final day. From 9 a.m. until the sale ends at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, July 20, whatever is left is free for the taking. Unless people want to make a donation of course, said Greenlee before dumping a stream of water onto the ground.
More storms are expected tonight, with some gusting winds. Tuesdays forecast however calls for partly sunny with a high near 87. Winds may get up to 8 mph.
