John 'Jack' List, 1942 Westport Graduate

WESTPORT, Conn. – A Mass was celebrated Friday at Westport's St. Luke Church for former resident John "Jack" P. List, a graduate of Staples High School who died June 19. He was 88.

List was born May 3, 1923. He lived in Westport for 55 years until moving to Woodbridge. After graduating from Staples in 1942, List joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in Hawaii.

Later, List served as vice president and treasurer of Trendex Inc. He also served on the board of directors at the Westport Weston Family Y and was a longtime member of the Westport Kiwanis Club and the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (Lane) List; two sons, Peter List of Fairfield and Paul List of Sandy Hook; three daughters, Lorrie Wright and her husband Craig of Woodbridge, Diane Titcomb and her husband Nathaniel of Killingworth, and Heidi List-Murphy of Middleton, R.I.; a sister, Lucille List-Morris of Old Greenwich; and 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas E. List and his sister Maggie Rogers.

List was buried in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions in his name may be made to a charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be left on the Harding Funeral website.
