Jennifer Steitzer, Staples Grad Who Loved Animals

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday afternoon at Church of the Assumption in Westport for resident Jennifer Elizabeth Anne Steitzer, a Staples High School graduate who died suddenly in her home Jan. 16. She was 27.

Steitzer was born on July 2, 1983, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Fred and Susan Steitzer of Westport. A graduate of Fairfield University, she worked as a marketing assistant for Swisscosmet Co.

Ever since she was a young girl, Steitzer, an avid artist, had a deep appreciation for fashion and art. She was also passionate about animals and was dedicated to her dog, Checkers.

In addition to her parents, Steitzer is survived by her brother, Jonathan Steitzer and future sister-in-law Colleen Mitchell of Fort McMurray, Alberta; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada. She will be buried alongside her grandparents in Winnipeg.
