As of 4:20 p.m., CL&P reported 945 outages in Westport, which is roughly seven percent of town. Approximately 4,500 customers — roughly 36 percent of town — were in the dark earlier Thursday morning, Dep. Fire Chief Robert Kepchar said.
Several roads throughout town were impassable as of 1:20 p.m., including Country Road, Pin Oak Court, Hockanum Road at Weston Road, Easton Road at No. 37, Concord Lane, Coleytown Road at North Avenue, Crooked Mile Road, Crawford Road, Adams Farms Road at North Avenue, Pequot Trail, Plumtree Lane off Whitney Street, 95 Bayberry Lane, Beachside Common, Beachside Avenue and Morningside Drive.
Crews were working to clear these sites, Kepchar said.
A representative from CL&P said hundreds of crews have been deployed across the state. There was no estimation as to when power would be 100 percent restored.
