Weston resident Eric M. Mazur, M.D, this morning was named the new chief medical officer of Norwalk Hospital. The hospital's president and chief executive, Dan DeBarba announced also announced the promotion of Lisa M. Brady to the position of hospital vice president and chief operating officer.
Mazur, who grew up in Fairfield, served for 15 years as the chairman of Norwalk Hospital's Department of Medicine before becoming its vice president of Clinical Integration. Mazur has led the hospital's efforts to achieve excellence in resident education and patient care through the implementation of a computerized physician order entry system and automated clinical decision support. He also assisted in the founding of the Norwalk Community Health Center.
A summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University, Mazur attended Johns Hopkins University Medical School. He completed his first two years of internal medicine residency at the Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester. In 1977, he returned to Connecticut as a resident and fellow at Yale University.
Mazur has published over 45 original scientific papers and reviews. He also serves as co-host of "Health Talk", Cablevision's weekly television show (channel 84) that provides health education for much of Fairfield County.
Brady, who previously served as vice president of planning and business development, has been with Norwalk Hospital since 2008. She helped formulate the hospital's strategic plan and launch its comprehensive marketing plan. She also managed the hospital's affiliated physician practices, cancer services, occupational medicine, cardiology services, and women and children's services.
As the new COO, Brady will now lead the development and implementation of Norwalk Hospital's Master Facility Plan. In addition, she will be responsible for the hospital's cancer center, cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, emergency department, laboratory lervices, women and children's services, as well as facilities, environmental services, security and real estate.
Brady holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago, where she later joined the faculty in Healthcare Marketing.
