WESTPORT, Conn. The occupants of a home on Bumpy Lane in Westport received minor burns while escaping a fire that erupted in their home late Saturday afternoon, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kepchar reported.
Firefighters were called to the home around 4:51 p.m. and were met by heavy fire, Kepchar said in a new release. The homeowners were taken to the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit and released a short time later.
The fire was extinguished with help from the Wilton Fire Department and the last fire unit left the scene at almost 10 p.m. A Fairfield fire engine provided mutual aid at Westport Fire Headquarters during the incident.
No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshals office.
