WESTON, EASTON AND REDDING, Conn. – Fourth of July celebrations and new school leaders led the news during the holiday week in the Weston-Easton-Redding area. Here are some of the top stories from the past week:

? The area celebrated Independence Day this week, with the annual Family Fourth Fireworks Show drawing hundreds to Weston Middle School on Thursday.

? Weston Public Schools began looking ahead to the 2013-14 school year, appointing two new administrators to the district to start work later this summer.

? The Easton Republican Town Committee endorsed its candidates for this fall’s local elections last week. The candidates can become official at the Republican caucus July 16.

? Commuters should gear up for summer construction, as Metro-North resumes track work on the New Haven Line this week.

? In regional news, Federal Reserve Bank of New York official William Dudley visited Fairfield County this week to share his outlook on the local economy. Dudley said he sees the area has “an excellent foundation” but is moving more slowly than expected.
