FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Saturday will grow hotter and stormier throughout the day, with a potential for strong thunderstorms to begin rolling through Fairfield County in the afternoon and evening.

There is moderate chance for severe storms Saturday evening as a cold front moves in, with the National Weather Service warning of a "potentially damanging wind event" in the Northeast.

The stormy weather could begin around 2 p.m. and worsen through the evening, the Weather Service says. The main threat will be "torrential rains and strong to damaging wind gusts," it says.

The storms should be gone by Sunday morning, which is forecast to be sunny with highs in the low- to mid-70s, the weather service says.

Broad River:

Seems like the bulk of the 10:45am downpour will remain north of the Parkway. Maybe this will keep the dust down to a minimum without making mud. The 12:30 and now 3:30 tornado warnings won't help the Fair. There wasn't many people there between 11: & 3:00 and the pretzels are still only $4 ! --Closed by weather at 5:45PM

OLD TIMER:

All the forecasts do not agree. For the sake of the Oyster festival, we can only hope this one is wrong.
