One person was hospitalized Saturday afternoon following a head-on collision on Compo Road South near Baker Avenue.
The Westport Fire Department responded to the call at around 2:19 p.m. When firefighters arrived, one of the drivers complained of a possible broken wrist. As Westport EMS treated the driver, firefighters disconnected the car batteries and checked for leaking fluids, Assistant Fire Chief William Dingee reported.
The driver who complained of a wrist injury was transported to Norwalk Hospital. The other driver refused medical treatment.
Dingee said the drivers were not seriously injured because they used seatbelts and their airbags properly deployed.
Both cars were cleared by Westport Service Center and the last fire unit left the area by 3:02 p.m.
Westport police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
