WESTPORT, Conn. It was a big win for Republicans on Tuesday as they took control of two town boards for the first time in 14 years, said Republican Town Committee Chairman Bob Zappi.
Unofficial numbers show all three Republicans won seats on the Board of Finance, and the GOP will have majority. Michael Rea, John Pincavage and incumbent Tom Lasersohn were elected along with Democrat Janis Collins.
On the Planning and Zoning Commission, all four Republicans scored victories: Jack Whittle, Al Gratrix, Chip Stephens and incumbent Catherine Walsh. The GOP takes the majority on that board as well.
The Democrats retain their majority on the Board of Education with Democrats Mark Mathias, an incumbent, and Michael Gordon winning seats along with Jennifer Tooker, a Republican.
