Gas Prices Rise Steadily in Westport

Take a ride around Westport, and you'll quickly realize you can't fill your tank for less than $4 a gallon. And while the cost of gas might seem unbearable, the worst part is it's not getting cheaper anytime soon.

As of Wednesday afternoon, prices for regular unleaded in Westport ranged from a low of $4.06 a gallon at the Mercury station on Post Road East at Buckley Avenue to a high of $4.58 at the Mobil station on Post Road East near Powers Court, ConnecticutGasPrices.com reported. The latter is ranked as the most expensive in the state on the website.

Of the 12 stations listed on the website, the combined Westport average for regular unleaded gas is $4.23. That tops the current state average, as reported Wednesday, of $4.10 a gallon, and the national average of $3.82. One year ago, the state average was $2.96 and the national average was $2.86.

Curious how Westport gas prices compare to nearby towns?  In Fairfield, prices for regular unleaded on Wednesday ranged from $4.02 a gallon to $4.29. In Norwalk, prices ranged from $4.05 to $4.29.
