Fredirick Arndt, Air Force Veteran

Westport resident Fredirick William Daniel Arndt, who served with the Air Force in Vietnam, died Dec. 8 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 76.

Born on Dec. 5, 1934, in Waterbury, Arndt grew up in Waterbury and West Hartford. In 1952, he graduated from Hall High School and in 1956, he earned a BA in finance from the University of Connecticut.

Arndt later joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam in 1961 and 1962. He later served in the New York Air National Guard and retired as a colonel in command of the Direct Air Support Squadron.

In 1965, Arndt went to work for American Airlines. When he retired in 1994, he went to Net Jets, where he worked for 10 years.

He was a mason with Acacia Lodge No. 85 as well as a Sphinx Shriner and a Jester.

He is survived by his sister, Hannelore “Lorie” Seely of East Hampton; a brother, Richard and his wife, Cheryl, of Clinton; and a nephew.

A memorial and a Masonic ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, 108 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boston Shriners Hospital Patient Transportation Fund at the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114-2699.
