Fire On Truck Carrying Eggs Closes I-95 At Milford-Stratford Border

original story: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — A fire involving a tractor-trailer carrying eggs has closed I-95 northbound between Exits 33 and 34 on Monday morning, the state Department of Transportation said. 

The accident occurred at 4:30 a.m. 

Traffic is backed up for over 6 miles to Exit 27A for Routes 8 and 25 in Bridgeport, DOT said.

It is not known when the accident scene will be cleared and when the road will reopen.  

Motorists can expect delays up to two hours, DOT said. 

A forklift was called to the scene to move pallets of eggs at the scene, NBC Connecticut said.

No injuries were reported.
