EASTON, Conn. A motorist driving by a home on Valley Road last week reported flames shooting from the chimney. The Easton Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze with assistance from the Redding Fire Department.
Police said the fire was a very minor incident involving the chimney insert, which became clogged and caused the fire. Police said even though there were flames coming out of the chimney, there was no fire in the house.
Police said there was no one inside the home at the time of the fire, reported at 8:42 a.m. on March 27. Police were able to contact the homeowner. The brick chimney received structural damage in the fire.
