WESTPORT, Conn. -- A tree fell onto the Merritt Parkway late Sunday and caused a three-car accident, but no one in the vehicles was hurt, the Connecticut Post reports.
The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes between Exits 42 and 44, the Post quoted Westport firefighters as saying. The tree had to be cut up and removed from the vehicles, firefighters reported.
There have been two other similar accidents on the Merritt in the past few weeks. A tree struck two vehicles in Fairfield last week, injuring one person, and the week before a limousine driver was killed and two others hurt when a tree fell onto the parkway in Stamford during a thunderstorm.
