Fairfield Official Arrested by Westport Police

WESTPORT, Conn. – Matthew Decker, a Fairfield zoning enforcement officer, was arrested by Westport police Monday on a warrant charging him with issuing a bad check, police said.

Outside of his position at Fairfield Town Hall, Decker works as a contractor. While working on a home in Westport, Decker, 44, is accused of paying a subcontractor with a check that later bounced, the police report states. The check was for $8,500, police said.

Decker, of Stratford, was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is due in Norwalk Superior Court on May 25.
