Westport resident Evelyn E. Monahan, an avid sports fan and beach lover, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, at her Westport home. She was 88.
Wife of the late Thomas H.E. Monahan, she was born in Boston and lived in Westport for 45 years. Monahan, known as Aunt Del to many, was a member of Assumption Parish.
When she wasn't spending time with her two grandchildren, Christine and Kevin Boecke, Monahan enjoyed going to the beach. An avid sports fan, she also enjoyed spending time with friends, especially fellow Boston Red Sox and Celtic fans.
In addition to her grandchildren, Monahan is survived by two daughters, Joan Monahan Boecke and husband William of Newton, Mass., and Lynne Monahan of Westport; two sons, Thomas H.E. Monahan III and wife Martha Dixon of Black Rock, and Stephen J. Monahan and wife Wendi of Marshfield, Mass.; and sister Barbara Carney of Wareham, Mass. She was predeceased by brothers Buddy Delaney and Robert Delaney and sisters Louise Ryan and Jeanne Gallagher.
