Breaking News: Black Ice Advisory Issued For Melting Snow Refreezing

Eric Goldschmidt, 2007 Staples Grad

Eric Ernst Goldschmidt, a 2007 graduate of Staples High School, died March 9 after a nearly lifelong battle with cancer. He was 22 years old.

The son of Westport residents Patrick and Ruth (Klemm) Goldschmidt, he was born in Dusseldorf, Germany. During his four years at Staples, Goldschmidt was a member of the executive committee for Toquet Hall. Until recently, he was a student at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.

Goldschmidt had a passion for photography, the Boston Red Sox, music and movies. He also loved animals — especially his dog Lucy.

In addition to his parents, Goldschmidt is survived by a sister, Monika Goldschmidt; his maternal grandmother, Jane Klemm; his paternal grandparents, Renee and Ernst Goldschmidt, and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Ernest Klemm.

A celebration of his life will be held May 21 at Toquet Hall, with more details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Fund, Inc., 8 Hilly Field Lane, Westport, CT 06880, or to Staples Tuition Grants, P.O. Box 5159, Westport, CT 06881.

The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, is handling the arrangements. Visit the Harding Funderal Home website to leave condolences.
