Funeral services were held Friday for Westport resident Edward W. Plaut, a World War II veteran who died Feb. 27. He was 86 years old.
Plaut was born April 6, 1924, in New York City. He attended the University of Florida and served in the Navy during World War II.
Plaut lived in Westport for 57 years. He worked in the insurance business for more than 40 years, and after retiring volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in Westport, where he helped deliver meals. He also served as mentor in the Bridgeport Public School system.
Plaut is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Stern Plaut; a daughter, Kim P. Sullivan and her husband, Joseph, of East Dennis, Mass.; two sons, Wynn Plaut and his wife, Robin, of Greenwich, and Quentin Plaut and his wife, Michelle, of Fairfax, Va.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
