An Easton teenager was killed early Saturday when his all-terrain vehicle was struck by a car, Easton police reported.
Robert Smuniewski, 18, was thrown from the ATV into the southbound lane of Sport Hill Road shortly after midnight. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Smuniewski was ejected from his seat and struck the hood and windshield of a 1991 Honda Accord driven by Stewart Lahey, 84, of Atwater Street, Bridgeport. The accident occurred just south of Harvest Moon Road. A resident reported the accident in a 911 call.
Smuniewski, of Morning Glory Drive, Easton, was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner in Farmington for an autopsy. No charges have been filed, and the crash remained under investigation.
The Easton Police, Fire Department and EMS workers responded to the accident scene. Sport Hill Road is Route 59.
