WESTPORT, Conn. – Construction on a new playground dedicated to Sandy Hook victim Dylan Hockley will soon begin at Westport's Long Lots School, town officials announced this past week. Here’s a look at this and other top stories from the week.
? A new playground will be built at Long Lots School in memory of 6-year-old Dylan Hockley, one of the 26 victims of the Dec. 14 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Construction on the playground is scheduled to begin June 7.
? One commuter train derailed and hit another during Friday evening's rush hour near the Fairfield Metro train station. The National Transportation Safety Board arrived Saturday morning to lead the investigation. The wreck led to the cancellation of train service between South Norwalk and New Haven.
? The Board of Selectmen on Wednesday approved two more pop-up cafes for downtown. The cafes were approved for Bobby Q's and Cru, a new restaurant currently under construction at 125 Main St.
? Westport resident Todd Seligson was arrested in Norwalk Wednesday on drug charges after he allegedly tried to buy $200 worth of heroin during a police string operation.
